Austin and Sierra’s Love Story!
1) The Beginning!
Austin and I met my first semester at Coastal Carolina! My sorority was having a Christmas social, and as being a crazy Christmas lover I had an insane outfit on. Austin and I actually met because one of his fraternity brothers had a little too much to drink and wasn’t feeling well and we both just started helping him out. Once we got him on a taxi and sent him home we started talking, I then proceeded to talk about the movie Home Alone for about 30 minutes. Austin pretended to act interested, lol. By the end of the night, I asked for his number since we were having such a good time. We were leaving for Christmas break in a week, so I didn’t expect anything to come from it. We continued keep in contact and talked all break. When we came back to school, we decided to spend some time at the beach relaxing and that’s when he asked me to be his girlfriend!
2) How did Austin propose?
Austin is actually the worst at secrets and I figured out he was going to propose about a month before. It was Austin’s graduation weekend and both of our families came into town. Before going to his graduation dinner, we went to the beach to take “family photos”. He proposed on the beach just like he did to ask me to be his girlfriend!
3) How was wedding planning?
Wedding planning was definitely one of a kind! We had a two year engagement, so of course a month before our wedding Corona happened but #loveisnotcancelled! I thought wedding planning was fun up until this point. I send my love to any bride that had to plan during this time because my goodness it was crazy. Huge shoutout to all the vendors that worked with couples during this time because you all kept us sane. I did all the wedding planning on my own. Although stressful, it was so rewarding to see it all come together on the wedding day.
4) Do you have any advice to give to couples?!
My advice to couples is DO NOT stress about the little things. Do not stress about favors, because half the people forget them. Don’t stress about if something is this or that color because people won’t remember. Make a list of the most important things to you and stick with that. Mine were food and Dj/entertainment. People remember most the food, music, and bar. Spend your money on a good photographer also!! These are what you have to remember from your day. Don’t use a contracted photographer company. Instead use an independently owned photographer (I made this mistake so Rika saved the day!)
